The picture does not show this very well, but there is a small tab opposite the spout which covers a small hole that allows air to enter the bottle as you pour out the contents - I think this is to reduce splashing. It usually does not leak very much provided you press down on the cap and the little ventilation tab with your hand as you shake. When leaking does occur it has been very slight and is easily dealt with by holding a paper towel over the top of the bottle as you shake.
